Jaw Crusher Main Frame Repair
Heavy repairs are often needed when disaster strikes. These frames were severely cracked and needed to be repaired within a 2-week lead-time. The cracks were repaired as well as other worn and damaged components. The frame was then stress relieved and machined to OEM requirements.

60” Draft Tube Gate Repair
SFM completed the restoration of a 60″ diameter gate valve manufactured in the late 1800’s for the Sault Ste. Marie Canal system. This valve was originally put in operation with a water turbine that generated power for the Soo Locks. The age and size of this component posed a challenge, weighing almost 16 000 lbs fully assembled and being covered in lead paint.

Serpent River GS Turbine Rebuild
Serpent River is a project where we were able to showcase our skills on a complete mechanical refurbishment of two horizontal turbine units. We started with dismantling and inspecting the major components, and went on to making drawings for the existing parts.

Tailrace ladder and Platform Installation
SFM provided shop fabrication and on-site installation of access platforms and ladders at a remote Northern Ontario hydro electric plant. Access to the work area was accomplished by using our engineered man basket on a mobile crane and utilizing a barge to stage tooling.
