Power Generation
Soo Foundry has been serving the power sector since the 1990’s. We have the capability to provide various mechanical tradesmen in the field or in our shop environment. On site we supply millwrights and metal fabricators who have worked on various projects from erecting staircases, installing platforms, cavitation repair, replacing turbine shafts and runners just to name a few. Our shop compliments our field division by being able to fabricate and machine any required component. Over the last 40 years we have completed a number of unit rebuilds including quality inspection, reworking existing parts and manufacturing new components.
Industry
Soo Foundry has worked in the Industrial sector since it’s inception as Northern Foundry over 100 years ago. Even though we no longer cast parts we are still called upon by various industries. Based on our location, shop capacity and having 40 fulltime staff we are able to answer the call for large scale fabrications as well as production crippling breakdowns. We can complete various tasks from manufacturing a simple bronze bushing to an in position 35″ bore, .075″ fit coupling change out.
Mining
Soo Foundry has been working in the mining sector dating back to when we still bore the name Northern Foundry. This sector is cyclical as most people know, and we have been through the highs and lows of mining. Our primary focus in mining has synergies with our other areas. We provide onsite mechanical support as well as various machining and fabrication services. We rebuild various components for leach tanks, drum filters and ore processing equipment. Downtime is very costly to our customers and we are able to react quickly and still provide a quality repair with the shortest timeline.
